So far

The most popular baby names of 2016 were Noah and Emma. But what’s trending for 2017? Well, according to Nameberry, the top picks might be shifting. The site, dedicated to all things baby names, released the top 100 girls’ and boys’ names for 2017 (thus far!) last week.

The names are listed in order of views of each name page in the first half of the year. Unlike the Social Security Administration’s annual baby names list, which lists the most popular names that end up on birth certificates, Nameberry’s list is based upon the interest of parents-to-be. So, we very well may see one of these names knock Noah off the top of the SSA list next year.

Not much has changed from the list Nameberry released in July 2016. While Olivia, Amelia, and Charlotte remain at the top of this year’s list of girls’ names, Ava got knocked down a couple of spots to number six, while Isla jumped one spot to number four. Joining the top five this year is the classic name Isabella. While the 2015 and 2016 lists were the same for boys, the 2017 list showed movement, signaling a shift in boys’ name trends. Asher, Atticus, and Ezra are all on the list again, with Jack and Theodore, classic boys’ names, making their way into the top ten.

For girls, the most popular names are:

  1. Olivia
  2. Amelia
  3. Charlotte
  4. Isla
  5. Isabella

For boys, the most popular names are:

  1. Asher
  2. Atticus
  3. Jack
  4. Ezra
  5. Theodore

See the rest of the new list, here. Looking for something more vintage? Here, nine old-fashioned girls’ names making a comeback. And if the classic route is more your thing, here is the most timeless boys’ name.
