Benjamin Lowy called them “Walkscapes.”
Using an app on his iPhone, the photographer, who was on assignment for TIME at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, captures dozens of images as he walks around a scene. Then, in what he calls an attempt to compress space and time in his photographs, he creates a multi-exposure composite that overlays every single one of those images on one frame.
The result is a series of eerie pictures that show, for example, the intensity of the RNC’s last night, when thousands of balloons and confetti came down on the delegates, making Donald Trump’s nomination for President official.
