House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi addressed the delegates at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday.

In a short speech, she expressed confidence in Democrats’ potential to do well in this fall’s election and spoke about the magnitude of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton possibly being elected as the first female president.

“We come to public service and to this convention not to trumpet darkness but to fight a way forward for our country, a bright light forward. We come here comforted that we are approaching a milestone in our nation’s history: The election of the first woman president of the United States,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi was the first female Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
