The GoFundMe was established by Equality Florida

A GoFundMe launched by a Florida-based LGBT civil rights organization, Equality Florida, to raise money for the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando had raked in $2 million as of Monday afternoon.

The group wrote that they were “reeling” from the shooting, which left 49 victims dead and 53 wounded at a popular Orlando nightclub. Because the nightclub was frequented by and established as a safe space for members of the LGBT community, Equality Florida launched the GoFundMe. By 2 p.m. on Sunday, $140,000 had been raised to support the victims and their families. Twenty-four hours later the funds had increased almost twenty-fold.

Equality Florida announced Monday they are working with the National Center for Victims of Crime to work out how the funds will be distributed. On Monday, GoFundMe contributed $100,000 to the fund. For more on how to help victims, click here.
