Six Flags Just Added an Insane New ‘Joker’ Roller Coaster

“The Joker” is open early to season ticket holders at first

The Six Flags Great Adventure amusement part in New Jersey has added a new roller coaster, “The Joker,” which—depending on your taste for roller coasters—looks like a terrifyingly exhilarating or hilariously good time. Or both.

Named for the Batman villain, The Joker uses magnetic technology to give riders a feeling of weightlessness as they tumble through “head-over-heels free-fly flips” and plummet down “beyond 90-degree ‘raven’ drops,” Six Flags said in an earlier release announcing the attraction.

Initially called “Total Mayhem, Six Flags says “behind the scenes, criminal mastermind, The Joker, was secretly plotting to take over the new 4D free-fly coaster and name it as his own.” The Joker is the park’s 14th roller coaster.

“The Joker is undeniably one of the greatest DC Comics Super-Villains ever created,” said Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerals. “Only someone with his warped sense of humor could provide this level of insanity─or spinsanity─with a new, vertical coaster that delivers gravity-defying somersaults with utter unpredictability.”

The Joker is open now through Friday only to season pass holders, Philly.com reports, and will be open to the public at large beginning Saturday.
