More than 30 others have been hospitalized
At least 45 people were killed and more than 30 others injured by floods in Pakistan on Sunday, officials said.
The flooding in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunwa province was prompted by torrential rain that began Saturday night, disaster-management official Latif ur Rehman told the Associated Press.
Rehman added that 34 people were admitted to the hospital with injuries, after the roofs of several rural houses reportedly collapsed. The Pakistani side of the disputed region of Kashmir was also partially affected, according to the Dawn newspaper.
Flash floods in South Asia are a common occurrence, particularly in the monsoon months between June and October, with hundreds dying and millions displaced across the region both last year and the year before.
