This Hillary Clinton Ad Was 40 Years in the Making

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is seeking to turn her long career in politics to her advantage in her fight with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

A new ad uses video footage of Clinton from her days as First Lady of Arkansas to her campaign launch talking about children’s issues.

Watching the ad, aptly titled “Children,” is like turning the pages of a flip book of Clinton through the ages. A grainy opening shot shows a bespectacled, much younger Clinton telling an off-screen questioner that an area she has particular interest in is children. From there, Clinton ages—her voice, wardrobe, and hair all change—but the message stays the same.

Clips from a bevy of speeches are strung together, gradually building up to the ad’s main point: “I’ve spent my life fighting for children, families, and our country,” Clinton is seen saying at the launch of her 2016 presidential campaign. ” And I’m not stopping now.”

The ad agency that created the ad tweeted that it was “nearly 40 years in the making.”
