Watch Guatemala’s Fuego Volcano Erupt

Authorities evacuated a nearby hotel

The Fuego volcano erupted Nov. 10, sending ash into the sky and lava running down its slopes. The volcano has since calmed down, but not before covering six villages in ash and forcing authorities to evacuate a nearby hotel. The volcano, which stands over 12,000 ft. tall just southwest of Guatemala City, had most recently erupted in February, forcing the government to close an airport. The Fuego is is one of hundreds of volcanoes that form the Central American Volcanic Arc.
