Robin Williams’ widow says the actor and comedian was weeks away from moving to an inpatient treatment facility when he took his own life in August 2014.

Susan Schneider Williams says she found Williams with a bloodied head wound in late July of last year, People reports. After receiving treatment for the injury, which Williams called a “miscalculation” with a door, the actor met with a psychiatrist who told him it was time for an inpatient neurocognitive evaluation.

Williams had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease earlier that year. An autopsy after his death revealed Williams also had Lewy Body Dementia, a type of dementia whose symptoms can include hallucinations.

“By the time he made it to inpatient we would have gotten around to the fact that he has Lewy Body Dementia,” Schneider Williams said. “But what I know now is that if Robin was lucky he would have made it three years. And he might have never left a facility. It was very bad.”
