He's seeking $300 million

An Alabama state Senator has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the state’s government.

Sen. Paul Sanford wrote that the state “is experiencing tight financial times and needs your help.” He explained, “Legislators are debating possible financial solutions but are finding that Raising Taxes are not wanted [sic] by the citizens of Alabama. Rather than have the Government come after your hard earned money you can now send an amount that fits your budget, even request where your money be used.”

As of Monday evening, the page had raised $325 in three days. Sanford is seeking $300 million.

The page has has also attracted commenters who disagree with Sanford’s proposal and urge those who disagree with the Republican state senator to “vote Democratic” next election.
