Moore briefed fans on new film Where to Invade Next

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore will return to the topic of U.S. foreign policy for his first film in six years, he announced Monday.

The movie, entitled Where to Invade Next, will premier at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and will examine America’s state of “infinite war” by satirizing the military-industrial complex, Moore said.

The Oscar-winning director, whose 2004 film Fahrenheit 9/11 remains the highest-grossing documentary of all time, called the new movie a film of “epic nature.” He said his frustration with America’s “constant need to have an enemy … so we can keep our whole military-industrial complex alive and keep the companies that make a lot of money for us in business,” would provide the film’s comedic edge.

Moore made the announcement via Periscope, Twitter’s live video streaming app. He also answered fan questions and expressed thanks for the support he has received throughout the years.

The often controversial filmmaker remarked that he has kept out of the spotlight during the making of the movie, giving a special shout-out to his “NSA fans who are watching right now.”
