Four unions are taking part in 24-hour strikes regarding the terms and pay of a new weekend night service

Approximately 20,000 workers of London’s underground train network, commonly known as the Tube, will stage a walk-out beginning Wednesday and lasting till Thursday, one of the unions involved in the strike says.

Members of four different unions are striking following disputes over the terms and pay conditions of the London Underground’s weekend night service that’s scheduled to begin in September, BBC News reports. Three unions will begin their walk-outs at 6:30 pm local time, with the fourth following three hours later. The strikes are expected to last for 24 hours.

“We are very clear that it is unacceptable and unjustified,” a spokesperson for Prime Minister David Cameron said in a statement. “It is going to hit families, workers, and businesses across the capital.”

London’s governing transportation body, Transport for London, says extra buses and river boats would be dispatched during the strikes.
